Meet this year's exhibiting artists

Jill Ford

Contemporary porcelain thrown bowls and vases decorated using minimal colour to focus on rich textural detailing, drawing upon the inherent delicacy and strength of fine porcelain. Vases and bowls are thrown on the wheel then often altered and decorated whilst still soft. Rims of pots are carefully stretched and pinched to create sharp undulations, or hundreds of wafer thin layers of porcelain are modelled into shrub rose embellishments. Decoration focuses on pattern and texture, in particular linear mark making and the spaces between. Aspects of the nature including water, flooding and floral themes provide inspiration for innovative textured wall pieces where impressions of the landscape are portrayed. Jill has perfected her method of applying slip to create raised 3-dimensional areas particularly suited to depicting foliage. In some pieces surface patterning renders a semi-abstract picture where hints of realism give a clue to the subject matter.Contemporary porcelain thrown bowls and vases decorated using minimal colour to focus on rich textural detailing, drawing upon the inherent delicacy and strength of fine porcelain.
