Lee's paintings are simple observations of the landscape capturing atmosphere, distance, seasons, light, subtle colours, shapes and patterns.
He enjoys the chance encounters of clouds opening on an overcast day and illuminating a thin slice of land in the distance or the wind chasing high clouds causing their shadows to race over the fields making a different painting as they go. He love's the way a tree may compose a painting or the way a sheep trail or tractor line leads the eye into a landscape.
Lee also paints the figure - simple observations of people and people's attitudes towards each other in contemporary society. Lee volunteers and works with the homeless, drug users and people on the fringes of society. His paintings tend to be of a social and political nature.
Lee exhibits and sells regularly in the UK, the United States and Europe. There is a permanent exhibition of his work in Pomorie Museum, Bulgaria.
Lee has a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art Painting from Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education.
He lectures in Art and Design part time at Bosworth Independent College, Northamptonshire.
