I'm one of two illustrators who produce the Oxford Reading Tree books, used in most schools in the UK and 110 other countries. So Biff, Chip, Kipper and Floppy etc are part of my extended family. I sketch the illustrations roughly with the editors and Rod Hunt, the writer. The next stage is to draw them properly in black line and trace them onto cartridge paper which I then stretch in my studio. Then I colour the drawings using water colour, pencils and conté. The illustrations are then scanned, and I retouch them on my Mac. Finally, I send the digital files to the publisher where they are turned into books.
